Campus Cleanup Initiative

As part of our effort to maintain a user-friendly campus for students, faculty and staff, we're asking you to help keep Wayne State clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

You may notice some additions to campus designed to promote a litter-free environment:

  • Ergonomically-designed ashtrays outside campus buildings.
  • New, easy-to-use trash cans at parking structure entrances and exits.
  • Signs to encourage everyone to take pride in our campus and dispose of litter properly.
  • Designated outdoor smoking areas at campus buildings to reduce the amount of second-hand smoke.

Let's all work together to keep Wayne State clean. Here's what you can do:

  • Put food wrappers, water bottles, empty cigarette packs, etc. in trash cans.
  • Dispose of cigarette butts in appropriate receptacles. Remember, they can take up to 15 years to break down, so the butt you flick in winter will still be there in spring.
  • Be considerate of others and adhere to the policy of no smoking within 20 feet of building entrances. Wayne State policy forbids smoking inside any university building.
