Founded Recycle Detroit, a volunteer-based organization that does community
reach by teaching resource management through the service of recycling and
education programs.
Sarah Kubik moved to Detroit in 2004 from Harbor Beach, Michigan to pursue a degree at Wayne State University in Sociology with a co-major in Peace and Conflict Studies. Sarah’s vision for a cleaner environment became the inspiration to create Recycle Detroit, a volunteer-based organization facilitating community resource management educational programs. Recycle Detroit is a collaborate effort of Detroit businesses, residents and students to improve Detroit’s environment. In 2006, Recycle Detroit’s joint venture with local waste and recycling firms resulted in “Recycle Here” the first improvement in the city of Detroit’s recycling program in 17 years.
